Alberto Fernández Soto has a Doctorate in Sciences (specializing in Physics) from the Universidad de Cantabria. He has worked in the United States, Australia and Italy and is a Head Scientist of the CSIC at the Instituto de Física de Cantabria (CSIC-UC). His field of research is observational cosmology and the study of remote and ancient objects of the universe, including the first stars, galaxies and quasars. He is very active in scientific education.
