Juan Antonio Corbalán

Born in Madrid in 1954, Juan Antonio Corbalán is a legend in Spanish sport. He has won all the top awards in Spanish basketball, including the Olympic silver medal at the Los Angeles games in 1984. His intelligent control of the game and especially his sporting and personal talent have won him international renown.


But there’s much more to Corbalán. He combined his successful basketball career with a career as a doctor, working in the Cardiology service at the Hospital Clínico de Madrid between 1980 and 1988, and later transferring to the Hospital Rúber.

He specialized in the Physiology of Exercise and Sports Medicine and currently directs theLa Salle Functional Rehabilitation Institute, a pioneering centre in the prevention and treatment of pathologies related to functional capacities. He also works in areas related to professional leadership and team management.
