The sea routes to Santiago de Compostela provide a different perspective on the Path: this is the experience of intrepid travellers who faced the dangers of maritime travel with the sole purpose of praying at the remains of the Sainted apostle, kept in Santiago de Compostela. They came from all the different coasts of Europe. Starting out from ports in Portugal, Italy, France, Britain, Germany, the Netherlands and Scandinavian countries; their heritage, the Christian faith of their society; their means of transport, the boats and ships which crossed oceans as dangerous as the Atlantic and seas as familiar as the Mediterranean. All the ships headed towards the same place, Galicia, with the same objective: to seek the intercession of the apostle.
